Don't Forget {What is Important}

Today my daughters Cherished of God, Creative, Guided by Faith, after getting ready for bed decided to help their Momma...

One pulled out the 5th laundry basket of the day (the others had been folded)...began to fold...{Creative}
One decided to straighten the bookshelf in the living room...{Guided by Faith}
The third, finishing getting ready for bed...noticed Creative and joined her in folding the clothes...
Upon finishing they put the clothes away, helped me put clean sheets on Momma and Daddy's bed...

I am so blessed...

I hate when I forget that and I take things for granted.  I hate when I take life for granted and only see the things that go wrong.  I forget the little things and instead get caught up in 'what needs to get done' and forget to enjoy what we're doing right now...

It is so ridiculous you know, how we worry?  How we fret...even when God has shown us time and time again how He loves us, how He provides for our every need.

My husband is still working only 28 hours a week.  He hasn't been able to find a new job, and they have not given him more hours, but still, here we are, through the generosity of others, unexplained, and because there are those who love God and hear a whisper to help us...

A blanket of snow upon us today...I walked out to take the trash outside, and just stood in amazement at the soft blanket fallen all around.  I could see individual snowflakes...as I picked them up I watched them melt in my hand, shrinking away from my warmth.

Solitude

There was also a gift on the porch.  I remembered I had filled out a form a while ago.  Some time fleeting while finishing up a nursing or something like that...It was to get a free copy of One Thousand Gifts for a limited number of people who could not afford to buy a copy.  {Please note: I have not read the entire book so cannot in good conscious endorse it to you, though I do agree wholeheartedly with the premise to be thankful to God for all of His gifts to us.} I filled it out not half expecting to receive the book.  I knew I couldn't buy it though; I thought I'd try.  Well, there it was, again given out of the generosity of others.

Blown away...

I read the first couple of pages, and let me tell you, Ann's story will blow you away...And I don't know all of it yet.  But all I can say is I hope this is one book from which I don't forget the lessons learned....

A big lesson I need to learn is to always be thankful.

Even in the trials, even in the times of testing, even in the busyness of motherhood...

Be thankful...

Because I am blessed...

Trying not to forget.

  5. Mrs. Q,

    Thank you for this beautiful post. It's something I am learning as well - to be thankful and contended with the blessings (especially the small ones) that God has given to me.
