When You Need Childlike Faith

Her First Sermon

Today I need some childlike faith.

There are things going on in my life that I cannot explain here on this blog.  Things that are not pretty or lovely.

Then the children and I got the "stomach flu" this week.  You might imagine how that can throw everything off in a large family.

Places I thought help would surely come from will not give help...

Our gas was stolen out of our van again today, and I don't really feel safe...

I watch as the money dwindles away and wonder if there will be enough to pay bills...

I am physically and emotionally exhausted...

I start to doubt...

But I need to keep trusting...Will I question that my Lord will provide for us?  That He will make all these things work out for our good?

This is life.  Yes, this is real life.  Will I praise Him even in my troubles?  Will I show the children I trust Him?  Or will I make them lose their childlike faith?  Will I thank Him still for our blessings?

I must.  I must trust Him.  Because He knows all these things. I must thank Him and praise Him and trust Him.  Just like a child.

I must choose to trust Him.  Will you trust Him too?

  2. I'll pray for you too, Mrs. Q! I know it is very hard to do this, but try to consider the stolen things a gift made to needy thieves out of a generous Christian heart that shares love with friends but also with enemies. Should you find power in your faith to do so, God will overwhelm your family with joy an abundance. Some months ago, I wrote to you that my husband had a car accident and that we were in real trouble. God helped us out of scarce living and eventhough we are not safe in our pocket we are making exactly the living God has measured for us. Please do consider my experience. My partents were also stolen huge amounts of money when I was a kid and they used to tell me that we should consider that money as given to God himself. Sometimes we are challenged for more in our faith in order to keep our thoughts humbled. But God is looking upon your tears and in every challenge there is God's protection foreshadowed already.

    With warm thoughts in prayer,
Alexandra, wife of a Christian priest

  3. Dear Mrs. Q,
I will be keeping you in my prayers. God is never pleased by someone else's sin, but you can know that He knew that you would be right where you are and that He has prepared many graces for you to help you get through. Ask Him to help you to see them, to be open to them. Ask for the grace to take the grace that he has for you! Do you have some soul whose conversion that you have been praying for? Apply this time of suffering as prayer for the grace of that individuals conversion. So much suffering is wasted because we do not follow our Lords example in scripture on the purpose of suffering......

  5. Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?--John 11:40
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.--Joshua 1:9
You belong to God, and He loves you in ways you have yet to try and comprehend.
Be encouraged. Real life IS hard--I know! But God promised us through the prophet Isaiah--So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand...For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.--Isaiah 41:10, 13
I believe The Word of God, and you do, too. So, stand on it, and watch Him be the Rock that you stand on, the One Who lifts up your head. Go in peace, blessed woman.

  7. Sometimes we just have to wait a while to see the light at the end of the tunnel,
but hang in there - there will be light.
    Take care - Emma.
