I Love Homeschooling

Gabrielle et Jean, 1895-1896

I love homeschooling.  I am so glad I get to teach my children at home about the things of God.  I get to tell them that it was He who created everything and made it glorious.  It was the Lord who made all the beauty we see around us.  He was present in our history and He helps us day by day.  In every subject I want to point them to the Lord and His goodness.

Even when we are not officially "doing schoolwork", we are learning.  While they help me cook, we are measuring, multiplying, and dividing (and subtracting and adding).  When we are outside we are studying nature.  We learn science when we find a new creature we want to learn about.  We study herbology as we realize all the growing things deemed as "weeds" in our yard are really not so pesky.  We look them up in our herb book to see what benefits they have.  And again I point them to the Lord and His goodness in providing such things to help us.

We can pray.  We can read the Bible.  When we are sick we can take a day or two off and rest.

When one of my children doesn't quite get something in school, we can take it slowly and re-learn something until she understands.  When my children start to read I get to watch them and their excitement.  I thank God every time a new one learns this important skill.  With it, they can learn about anything.

There is so much to be thankful for in homeschooling that I cannot write it all here.  I cannot wait for our day to start and to begin a new one teaching them about God's world.

I learned as much as them and maybe more!
