Dear Lady Lydia
It is not rare today to be attacked as a homemaker, homeschooler, and mother to six, oh-my-goodness, SIX children! People wonder at the incredulity of those of us who dare to go against the grain of society or the mainstream "churches".
Whenever I am down and need some encouragement, I go to resources that edify the homemaker, and the place of women in the home. I am no perfect housekeeper, wife, or mother, but the Lord knows my heart~my heart is at home as I seek to learn and grow & be better at my full time job here. Yes, Full Time job. I don't need another one.
When I need reminding and encouragement as a homemaker, I often re-watch The Monstrous Regiment of Women. I don't know why I love it so much, but I guess it gives me that reminder of how we got where we are in society as a whole--why people are so deceived into believing the way they do about women and gender roles, but STILL, God's word remains true, and it will NEVER change, no matter what century we're in. (Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not;)
Another neat Scripture I came across when looking this up:
Proverbs 24:21 My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:
My other favorite resource to go to when I need uplifting as a homemaker is HomeLiving, which is authored by Lady Lydia. This dear woman is such an encouragement to me; a true Titus 2 woman. She is one of the very few women I have come across who points out that a woman does not need permission from her husband to be a keeper at home because God has already given instruction in this area and a man is not to override it. I have believed this for quite some time but thought I was alone in my belief. That is another post though...
Thank you Lady Lydia, for being an example, and sharing your wisdom and encouragement in a discouraging world, a world where there is even very little comfort in most others who claim the Lord as Saviour. Thank you for not being afraid to speak truth.
What are your favorite resources, dear readers, for encouragement in your role?
