The Importance of Older Women at Home

I am not an "empty-nester" yet--not even close, but I have often thought of what I would do when this time of life comes.  I know that I certainly don't want to be out working at a job, because that is not what Scripture commands us women to do.

I won't speak to this too much, since I'm not in this phase of life yet, but I will say that just because our children are grown and gone, does not mean we have nothing to do at home!  We should not be staying at home when they are younger just for them, anyways.  We have husbands that need caring for too.  It is lovely to see when older women in the church are still at home, taking care of their homes and husbands, and are available to help when someone in the church needs it.  There is plenty to do at home in this phase of life, and so I am going to share a video with you that an older woman has made that talks all about this.  I hope you enjoy it!

I would also like to add a link to this excellent article on the subject by my friend, Lady Lydia.

  1. Lori Alexander! I have read and followed her for years. She is like my Titus2. I don't have anyone like that to learn from. She has a real kick in the pants kinda blog and I need that! Thank you for sharing this and have followed you as well. Always look forward to what you both have to share. Thank you!

    1. Thanks for your encouragement. I praise God that there are still older women mentoring the younger ones, even if it's online.

I love these type of pictures! I remember wondering where all the titus 2 women were when I was a young christian. I would read titus and envision someone coming along side me and helping me grow in areas where I was lacking due to lack of knowledge and experience. I did not grow up in a christian home, so learning how to live out the scriptures was a new thing for me. Then I realized that so many were too busy to teach the younger women mainly because they were working jobs since they no longer had children at home. One day I met a lady who was a empty nester and still chose to stay home to keep house and serve her husband. What a blessing it was to meet her. She taught me so much because she had time to do so. What a blessing it is when older women invest in younger women who desire to serve the Lord.

    1. It is a sad fact that Titus 2 women mentors are scarce these days. I had no one teaching me these things growing up either--had to learn everything for myself. So glad you eventually met such a wonderful lady to teach you!

  7. Thank you so much for sharing this. Lately there have been so many women who have been more of a discouragement rather than an encouragement in this area. And I truly needed the encouragement! : ) I have always loved being home and taking care of it and everyone in it and want to continue to do so. Again, thank you for sharing. Have a good day!!!

    1. You are very welcome. I'm glad you were encouraged. It is especially hard when we don't have other Titus 2 women around us who are obeying God's Word. God bless you!
