Journey to Bethlehem Movie--Should You See It?

May be an image of 6 people and text

We don't go to the movies...ever.   But in case you do and were considering going to see this new movie, I came across a review from a friend that I thought I'd share with you.  This movie strays far from the Biblical account.

Friends, if you are considering taking your children to see the movie: Journey to Bethlehem, we saw this as a preview movie a couple of months ago and I absolutely do NOT recommend. Just a couple of concerns out of many:
1. Mary is pictured as a rebellious teen who does not want to get married but instead wants to be a teacher and is angry with her father for forcing a betrothal on her.
2. Joseph is a flirty young man who is trying to woo a young girl in the marketplace even though he knew he was promised to Mary and the young lady tells him she’s betrothed. Eventually it becomes clear he was actually accidentally flirting with his future wife, but still. No.
3. In this story Herod’s son shows up at the birth of Jesus and because of Mary standing up to him, lets the family go free, even ordering his soldiers to help.
We had many more concerns with this film. Please do not be deceived and take young, impressionable children to see this movie.

Be blessed, ladies.

Current Events

There are some important things here for you to know.

Top Pathologist Claims Coronavirus is “The Greatest Hoax Ever Perpetrated on an Unsuspecting Public”
Says “masks are utterly useless.”
Published on 18 November, 2020

Top pathologist Dr. Roger Hodkinson told government officials in Alberta during a zoom conference call that the current coronavirus crisis is “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on an unsuspecting public.”

Hodkinson’s comments were made during a discussion involving the Community and Public Services Committee and the clip was subsequently uploaded to YouTube.

Noting that he was also an expert in virology, Hodkinson pointed out that his role as CEO of a biotech company that manufactures COVID tests means, “I might know a little bit about all this.”

“There is utterly unfounded public hysteria driven by the media and politicians, it’s outrageous, this is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on an unsuspecting public,” said Hodkinson.

The doctor said that nothing could be done to stop the spread of the virus besides protecting older more vulnerable people and that the whole situation represented “politics playing medicine, and that’s a very dangerous game.”

------------ YouTube Link to Recorded Comments by Dr. Roger Hodkinson, ---------------------
Hodkinson remarked that “social distancing is useless because COVID is spread by aerosols which travel 30 meters or so before landing,” as he called for society to be re-opened immediately to prevent the debilitating damage being caused by lockdowns.

Hodkinson also slammed mandatory mask mandates as completely pointless.

“Masks are utterly useless. There is no evidence base for their effectiveness whatsoever,” he said.

“Paper masks and fabric masks are simply virtue signalling. They’re not even worn effectively most of the time. It’s utterly ridiculous. Seeing these unfortunate, uneducated people – I’m not saying that in a pejorative sense – seeing these people walking around like lemmings obeying without any knowledge base to put the mask on their face.”

The doctor also slammed the unreliability of PCR tests, noting that “positive test results do not, underlined in neon, mean a clinical infection,” and that all testing should stop because the false numbers are “driving public hysteria.”

Hodkinson said that the risk of death in the province of Alberta for people under the age of 65 was “one in three hundred thousand,” and that it was simply “outrageous” to shut down society for what the doctor said “was just another bad flu.”

“I’m absolutely outraged that this has reached this level, it should all stop tomorrow,” concluded Dr. Hodkinson.

Hodkinson’s credentials are beyond question, with the MedMalDoctors website affirming his credibility.

“He received his general medical degrees from Cambridge University in the UK (M.A., M.B., B. Chir.) where he was a scholar at Corpus Christi College. Following a residency at the University of British Columbia he became a Royal College certified general pathologist (FRCPC) and also a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists (FCAP).”

“He is in good Standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, and has been recognized by the Court of Queen’s Bench in Alberta as an expert in pathology.”

Important Information for Your Family

Unless you've had your head literally buried in the sand, you've probably heard some things about a vaccine being in the works for COVID-19.  This will probably be as helpful as the flu vaccine is in preventing flu--people who get vaccinated still get the flu and even worse.

As mothers who care for our families, I believe we should be educated in matters of health, so we know the best decisions to make regarding our families' health.  Don't just take your doctor's word for it.  Many vaccines also contain aborted babies--do you think Christians should put any such thing in theirs or their children's bodies?

In light of the vaccine that is in the works and that may even be pushed upon people, there is a good video series going on right now which has just started, about vaccines.  I highly recommend you sign up (for free) to watch the series and educate yourself on the truth about vaccines.  You will want to sign up as soon as possible because the series has just started, and I believe that each section is only available for one day.  I have not watched this series before, but it looks like it will be very good.  I've done my own vaccine research, but I'm interested to see what else I can learn from this series.   You can sign up here.

What You Will Learn

The History of Vaccines
Vaccination programs are given credit for eradicating some of the most devastating illnesses of the past, but they’re no longer immune to controversy of their own.
Vaccine Risks and Safety Concerns
Concerns about vaccine injuries, mercury toxicity, and autism have increased substantially in recent years, and public debate is once again heating up.
Full List of Options and Alternatives
You don’t have to pro- or anti-vaccine anymore. New options are available to guard against serious illness, based on your unique situation and risk factors.
ALL NEW Episodes for 2020!
Two new full episodes titled: "Censorship & Suppression" and "W.H.O.'s Not Telling the Truth?"

Facts Matter

Another I've copied and pasted for your information (and video below):

Folks, facts matter.

Facts matter : Bill Gates

Concerning but not incriminating:
Bill Gates moved all his investments around and invested in “philanthropy”, 5G, and pharmaceuticals.

Super Bizarre considering the timing 🤔🤯:
Bill Gates held an event 201 pandemic simulation of coronavirus before this all happened.

Now this is just plain nefarious if true:
Bill Gates is suddenly portrayed in media articles as having some say in our health and the presidents decisions.

Also concerning but not entirely Incriminating:
Bill Gates was friends with Jeffery Epstein (convicted pedophile and child sex trafficker) and photographed together on more than one occasion.

Ok, so this is pushing the concern to another level :
Bill Gates is the second largest WHO donor, and the WHO is calling for the removal of people from their homes with the 🦠 (?).

Now this is treasonous:
Bill Gates openly wants a one world government, policy, currency, and tracking devices implanted into people.

This is just corruption:
Bill Gates has the head of the Coronavirus task force- Dr Anthony Fauci- who is currently advising the president what to do with the entire country right now- on the board of his foundation!!

This is telling:
Bill Gates has invested in 7 coronavirus vaccines and patents.

Facts matter.

This is a News Post

I am not a big fan of watching news.  I definitely don't believe much of anything they report because they have been shown to be extremely biased and even to lie outright.  But quite obviously, our world has now been turned upside down!  All because of a virus?  I'm sure we've had many viruses before, but these drastic measures did not go along with it.  So this concerns me quite a bit, especially as we are finding it quite difficult to now get the food and other items we need.  I'm also thinking about the men who are not able to go out and provide for their families during this time.  It isn't right for them to be forced to stay home.

I am not saying there is not a virus at all, but there are too many questionable things going on, and we, Christians, should most especially not trust blindly in what is parroted to us, but we should be WISE as serpents (Matthew 10:16).  There have been many things brought to my attention, and in this post, I am going to share just a small sampling of them with you to hopefully get you thinking.

The below video is very interesting.  Citizens have gone to hospitals reported on the news to see if what is being reported is true:

Watch as a W.H.O. Official describes how they: "May have to enter homes and remove family  members".  This really should shock and horrify you.  There was a longer video, but it has since been removed.

Plans to use microchip implants to fight coronavirus article here (with many links to sources).

The below is an excellent video from a doctor who describes how death certificates work (she writes many herself).
Montana physician Dr. Annie Bukacek discusses how COVID 19 death certificates are being manipulated:

An article on the same thing the above doctor is telling about:
CDC Tells Hospitals To List COVID as Cause of Death Even if There are No Test Results Confirming it

An article where a Swiss doctor shares some facts on COVID-19.

Here is some good news:
'This Is Not Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia Where You Are Asked For Your Papers!' Says Maine Sheriff

If you watch some of Amazing Polly's videos on Youtube, she puts some pieces of this puzzle together.

And just in case you still think the news can be trusted, here's proof of them reading from the same script:

I don't know what else to say at this point!  There is so much more I could share.  Only God knows for sure what is going on, and we can trust that He is sovereign over all.  I think we all really need to get on our knees before Him though, and definitely do not agree to any vaccines!

History of the King James Bible

Last week I shared a short video that briefly explains why we use the KJV Bible.  For some people, there is still a lot of confusion about the preserved Word of God.  I understand this, as there are many, even among professing Christians, who have worked to discredit and speak out against the King James Bible.

Today, I want to share a longer video for you to take some time out and watch.  It covers much more detail, including the history of where we got our English Bible.  When it comes to something so important as God's Word, we should take an interest.  This is a subject I have researched over many years, and I think it's very important.

The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. (Psalms 12:6-7)

Also, a good article for the critics and naysayers, and those who want to learn more on this important subject on the preserved Word of God.

Why Use the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible

Even though when I was first saved, I did not attend a church that used the KJV, the Lord eventually led me to use the King James Bible.  I read a book titled Which Version is the Bible? by Floyd Nolen Jones many years ago, which made it very clear where God's Word is found.  The KJV is the version I always use here at Blessed Homemaking.  Recently, the issue of the importance of this Bible version issue has come to light again to us, so I wanted to share with you some brief, but good reasoning for using the KJV.

I'm posting below, a video by Dr. Kent Hovind. We have enjoyed several of his videos on creation vs. evolution, which are also very informative.  In this video, Dr. Hovind explains why the KJV is the preserved Word of God.  There are other sources of good information on this topic, but this will give a brief overview.

What Will You Wear to the Beach or Pool?

May God bless all of those ladies, young or old, who will SWIM this summer and do so modestly,...
and who will facilitate your daughters doing similarly.
May God bless the work of your hands as you endure the frustration of going store-by-store, site-by-site, seamstress-by-seamstress --
almost ready to give up! --
but pressing on in a desire to honor your God,
your husbands -- perhaps current, perhaps future --,
and/or the eyes of others' husbands and sons who will bear witness to your time in the water.

There are a number of us who notice your Godly character, as reflected in your swimming attire.
We not only appreciate your example to our daughters,...
but we also appreciate that our husbands and sons will not be put in the awkward position of perhaps needing to look at the birds in the sky or flat-out LEAVE the swimming area that they had hoped to enjoy.
There is nothing more fun than time in the sun without the unnecessary awkwardness of nudity or partial nudity all around.
And there is nothing more lovely than seeing modest women and girls fulfilling the positive duties of "thou shall not commit adultery" and "flee fornication" in their shopping leading up to and during the summer pool season.
~K. Harrhof
The below video has some interesting information on the history of how bikinis came about, and what women used to wear to go swimming.  She also presents information about how immodestly dressed women affect the male brain.  Our culture has truly lost their sense of shame and decency in this area.  Women wearing the current popular beach attire should be embarrassed by it!  Please, as the summer months approach, think about what you are wearing (and your daughters).  Think about how it affects the people around you.  No one wants to see all your flesh hanging out, or at least no one should be.   Note:  the nice lady presenting the information has her own swimwear line, but I do not recommend them as they really don't cover enough.

Also, someone has recommended Christian Modesty and the Public Undressing of America.  I've heard it mentioned before, but now I've moved it up on my to-read list.

The Importance of Older Women at Home

I am not an "empty-nester" yet--not even close, but I have often thought of what I would do when this time of life comes.  I know that I certainly don't want to be out working at a job, because that is not what Scripture commands us women to do.

I won't speak to this too much, since I'm not in this phase of life yet, but I will say that just because our children are grown and gone, does not mean we have nothing to do at home!  We should not be staying at home when they are younger just for them, anyways.  We have husbands that need caring for too.  It is lovely to see when older women in the church are still at home, taking care of their homes and husbands, and are available to help when someone in the church needs it.  There is plenty to do at home in this phase of life, and so I am going to share a video with you that an older woman has made that talks all about this.  I hope you enjoy it!

I would also like to add a link to this excellent article on the subject by my friend, Lady Lydia.

This is not my video, but I found it to be encouraging for us homemakers. Ladies, please don't let Satan tear you down and cause you to believe the lie that you are not doing enough by being home taking care of your families.

Bible Memory Verses on Sale

How lovely and important to teach our children how to hide God's Word in their hearts!  Are you doing this with your children?  I have to admit, while we use and read Scripture throughout our day, we don't work on memorization as much as I would like to.  I know that the Holy Spirit is faithful to bring to mind verses that we have put into our minds, though.  There have been many times in my life where the Holy Spirit has reminded me of verses I have read or heard.  I sure want this for my children too.

This brings me to the sale going on now through Friday on ABC Say it With Me--Bible Memory Verses video.  This video is WONDERFUL!  I absolutely love it.  It's actually a video I do not mind my children watching.  Until Friday, this video is on sale for only $10!  Pick it up!  You won't regret it.  You can read my full review of this spectacular teaching tool here.

A Video You Will WANT Your Children to Watch!

http://transactions.sendowl.com/stores/3025/5378

I am not big on letting my children watch videos.  I am picky about what I allow them to watch.  A big reason for this is that I know they will repeat what they've heard (and sometimes seen), and they'll replay it in their heads, over and over.  There are not a whole lot of decent videos out there, in my opinion.  I also don't like them sitting around mindlessly tuned out to something on the screen.

BUT...I have found an exception.  I have found a video I will let my children watch over and over!  (Read through this post to see how you can win your very own copy of this video!)

This video is the latest DVD from Moore Family Films--ABC Say It With Me.  I really, really enjoyed this video, and I was so glad that the Moores sent it to me to review.  My children, even though I limit their video-watching time, still like to request to watch a video more often than I'd like.  And boy, were they thrilled when I told them I had a new video from The Moores to watch.  They excitedly sat down in front of the TV to watch ABC Say It With Me.

This video is a blessing.  We see the Moore family again, with all of their sweet children.  This video will help your children to memorize Scripture--what an important thing to have our children do!  Psalm 119:11 says, “Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee.” As parents, it’s important to teach our children both to memorize God’s Word and to be “doers” of the Word by obeying it.

In this film, a KJV verse is taught for each letter of the Bible. The verse is repeated several times while a scene is shown that illustrates something related to the Bible verse to be memorized, while children are reminded to "Say it with me". The illustrative scene helps to teach good character to your children. For example, the "C" memory verse is "Children obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Ephesians 6:1" We see a group of children outside playing a game. The mama calls them in to eat, and instead of complaining and whining to stay out longer, the children get up to go inside, while we hear a cheerful reminder to obey quickly.

Some other examples from the video are:

In “B” a brother remembers to be kind by sharing with his little sister.
In “D” children are encouraged to pick up their toys without complaining.
In “H” children honor their parents through loving acts of thoughtfulness.
In “T” a 13 year-old brother takes time to read the Bible to his younger siblings.
In "Y" a young lady and her family are the "light of the world" to a harried restaurant waiter!

This video is not loud or obnoxious--it has pleasant music and sound affects, and farm animals!  (You can't go wrong with that!)  I enjoy watching it with my children, and it even helps me to memorize Scripture!  Would you rather have your children repeating some nonsense or not-so-good stuff, or repeating Scripture? I know what I prefer!  And I think it will bless the Lord to hear our little ones going around reciting His Word.

So, this video is on my, "Yes, you can watch that!" list.  It is on the top!  It helps them to hide God's Word in their hearts in a cheerful, upbeat way and gives them good examples of loving one another and also shows pleasant family life.

Courage, New Hampshire Review & Giveaway!!!

I am very pleased that I was contacted recently to review a new exciting TV drama Courage, New Hampshire and even more excited that one of you will win the first season!  (You'll have to keep reading to learn how).

Watch the trailer here:

Courage, New Hampshire is an 18th century costume drama that depicts the tumultuous years leading to American Independence. This show has an impressive cast of both British and American talent including Jim Tavaré (Harry Potter), Joe Massingill (Trouble with the Curve), and veteran character actor Basil Hoffman (The Artist). Currently, the show is airing on PBS Southern California affiliate, KVCR.

I really enjoyed getting to watch the first season of this show.  In fact, I would like to watch it again!  I love watching period dramas and this was no exception.  There are heroes and heroines, good and evil, and plenty of excitement to keep you interested and anticipating the next episode.  The women are women and the men are men!

Doesn't the king look evil here?

This drama is inspiring and will remind you of the roots of this once great country.  From INSP's website:
In 1770 America, family-man, tavern-keeper and local Justice of the Peace, Silas Rhodes strives to balance home, business and politics. Together with British deserter Bob Wheedle, they do their best to fight back against the growing tyranny of the British King. The two men lead a band of ordinary men who are secretive soldiers known as the “Sons of Liberty.” With brave acts of midnight justice against local British officials, they battle the bondage of the King’s oppressive laws in the pre-revolutionary township of Courage, New Hampshire.

This powerful drama depicts daily life for families, tradesmen and British officials living in this early American township during the turmoil just before the Revolutionary War. The people, politics and intrigue of the time are presented with historical detail, bringing this significant period in America to vibrant life once more.

Courage, New Hampshire will be going national on INSP on Memorial Day!  It will air on INSP on Monday, May 27th starting at 7pm Eastern Standard Time.

This drama has just the right amount of excitement, drama, and yes, romance.

In Episode 1 ("The Travail of Sarah Pine") a country girl, Sarah Pine (Alex Oliver) is caught in a scandal with a British soldier, Bob Wheedle, with promises of marriage while he is under house arrest for suspicion of kidnapping.  Sarah is abandoned even after bearing Wheedle's child. When Bob returns to the township a year later, again in search of deserters, he endures a bastardy trial presided over by Silas Rhodes. The arrest of a British soldier is embarrassing to Governor Wentworth and he sends Simeon Trapp to defend the crown's interest. Will Wheedle awaken to his obligations?

In Episode 2 ("The Sons of Liberty") Justice Silas Rhodes travels to Portsmouth for the execution of two
notorious criminals. Royal Governor Wentworth details the “light hand” needed for ruling the New Englanders, and a new pastor Silence Laud (Donel Thoms-Cappello) arrives in Courage, Township. But something seems askance with Laud.  Is he really a virtuous preacher?

In Episode 3, ("A Snake in the Garden"), Rev. Silence Laud grows weary of Abby's icy, but melting, virtue. Country farmer John Hildreth (Eric Drazin) has a run-in with a Tory judge William Bramley (Patrick Finnerty), who under the auspices of enforcing the White Pine act, tells Hildreth he can't clear the
trees from his own farm. What will the men of Courage do about this?

Well....you'll have to watch to find out!

In future episodes, the story of Courage Township will tell the story of the ways the American Revolution took root in the hearts and minds of ordinary people, long before the actual battles took place. Though fictional, many of the story lines will be based on actual events.

My only complaint about this drama was that in a couple of episodes there is a country dance in which many of the women wear very low-cut dresses we sometimes see in these period dramas.  The rest of the time they were so modestly dressed, so I don't see why the gowns had to be so low cut for the dance.  I know several other films such as Pride and Prejudice include this also and are still much-loved in the Christian community.  But still I wanted to warn you because I would rather they had left that out.

Would you like to see this exciting drama for yourself?  Well, I have good news!  The generous folks who produce Courage, New Hampshire have offered to give away the Season 1 (4-pack) on DVD to one special Blessed Homemaking reader!  This giveaway is only open to U.S.A. residents and will end on May 31, 2013.  Thank you to all who read my blog!

Moore Family Films Review & Giveaway ~ It is Your Life

My children were so excited when I opened the neat little bundle that came in the mail.  It was another video from Moore Family Films!  We have several of their other videos, so they were so thrilled to see that there would be a new one to watch.  This new DVD the Moores have created is part of their It is Your Life series.  This one is It is Your Life:  The Moody Family and takes us into the home and hearts of the Moodys, who are a homeschooling family that is all about living for the glory of God.  The film features interviews with Mr. and Mrs. Moody and their children, grandparents, and others.  The interviews are transparent and show us how the Lord is working in their family, transforming them into His image.  Besides the interviews, we are taken along to see the Moodys in their day-to-day life while they interact as a family.

The Moody family is a real family.  They do not claim perfection which is good because sometimes we can get the impression that other families don't have any problems.  But what this film is mostly about is family togetherness and serving the Lord as a family.  It is about a family that seeks to serve the Lord in all that they do.  It is about a family that loves the Lord and loves each other.

Since the Biblical family gets attacked almost everywhere in the media, and at times even by some family, friends, and churches, I am so glad the Moores have put out this new film.  You will be inspired as you see that yes, there are really other families that seek to give each area of their lives to the Lord.  There are also other important areas covered in the DVD such as caring for elderly parents, the dynamics of large families, chores for children, sibling relationships, biblical reasons for teaching your children at home, and much more!  I definitely recommend this video to all Christian families, and it is even great to watch with your children.  They will love it too!  My children ask to watch the Moore Family Films videos over and over again.

Now for the very exciting part!  The Moores have generously offered to give away one copy of It is Your Life:  The Moody Family  to a reader of Blessed Homemaking!  Thank you so much to the Moores for providing this DVD and thank you to the Moodys for sharing your lives with us.  Please enter through the Rafflecopter form below (it's easy).  If you don't have to wait for the giveaway to end, you can purchase it here.

Important Announcements

Maternal Admiration
Maternal...

I am sorry I have not been posting much lately.  I am very busy with New Sweet Little Blessing, who is like a little pink rosebud.  I just wanted to let you know about a few important things.

Firstly, you may watch an excellent documentary of the current state of our country here.  Agenda: Grinding America Down is available for free viewing until November 6.  Perfect timing for the election, and I recommend everyone who cares about our country watch it while you have this opportunity to do it without cost.

Secondly, my giveaway for the newly-released book, Be Still My Soul, By Joanne Bischof ends tomorrow!  So be sure to go and enter here if you haven't already, and to get your additional entries even if you have already entered.

And last, but certainly not least, I know there is much talk and apprehension of this election, and I want to say, just to have it said and make sure everyone is informed, that there are more than two candidates for the presidency.  I strongly encourage you to look into the Constitution Party, as there is a man running for president named Virgil Goode, and he will be on your voting ballot.   The values of the Constitution Party are excellent and truly what our Founding Fathers intended for this once great nation:

Principle 1: Life
We believe in Divine Providence and recognize our Creator as the author of human life. Thus, we believe in the absolute sanctity of human life.
The first duty of civil government is the protection of innocent human life from conception until natural death, no exceptions. When government sanctions abortion, then all lives are at risk.
Principle 2: Liberty
Far from granting license to ‘do whatever we want’, true liberty comes from God and real freedom is born of self-government. With James Madison, we assert the precious American ideal which set our country apart from other nations…
“We have staked the whole future of American Civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the whole future …upon the capacity of each of us to govern ourselves, according to the ten commandments of God.”
Principle 3: Family
Our Creator set in place the family as the first divinely instituted form of government.
It is the duty of civil government to recognize and protect the authority of the family unit.
When the state usurps the family’s authority, the hearts of the children are turned to the state, rather than to the fathers. Such socialist actions deny the created order and harm our communities.
Principle 4: Property
We believe that the right of individuals to own and steward their property is God given; established in such commandments as “Thou shalt not steal” and “Thou shalt not covet.”
We encourage private generosity, but oppose the forced transfer of one’s wealth to others by the state.
We believe that loss of ‘external’ property rights leads to the loss of ‘internal’ rights of personal conscience. It was James Madison who said, “Conscience is the most sacred of all property.”
Principle 5: The Constitution
In these United States, our Constitution established a representative federal republic – which represents the sovereignty of the people under God over the state.
Our founders purposed that the Constitution would uphold those ideals expressed in our Declaration of Independence, as the law of the land, and limit the power and scope of the federal government.
Principle 6: Limited Government
Our desire is to return the federal government to its constitutional boundaries.
The 10th Amendment, in our Bill of Rights, strictly limits the federal government to those jurisdictions specifically stated within the Constitution.
As a principle, our founders sought to ensure the duties of civil government always be performed at the lowest possible level. Local elected officials and clerks are more directly accountable to the people.
Principle 7: Sovereignty
We are firmly committed to the protection of our borders, our trade and our common defense. We believe that America is to be the friend of liberty everywhere, but the guarantor and provisioner of ours alone.
We oppose membership in the United Nations and any other treaty or affiliation that attempts to assert authority over our Constitution or bypass our sovereign citizens’ constitutionally elected representatives.

Homemaking 101 Video (a Review)

Being a devoted homemaker and blogger, I have been blessed to review a wonderful homemaking video to share with you about!  This video is Homemaking 101, and features Jennifer Ross and her family.  Jennifer blogs at Renewing Housewives, where she provides encouragement and inspiration for Christian homemakers.

Now, though my dear mother was a stay at home for much of my life and even had a degree in Home Ec, I was not taught any homemaking skills, nor the importance of them!  For a long time I have thought how helpful an instructional video like this would be, and thankfully the Rosses have made one.

Jennifer welcomes us into her home and teaches us basic skills such as cooking and cleaning, but also much, much more.  She gives excellent tips and instruction in all the aspects of homemaking (money- and time-saving tips, child-training, meal planning, scheduling and routines, decorating, etc.), and all in such an inspiring and encouraging way.  I so much appreciate Jennifer's kind and gentle manner, and she is an inspiration to me.  Scripture is presented throughout this lovely video, and there are even questions and answers with an older Titus 2 woman.  An especially encouraging aspect of this video is that the role of homemaker is upheld as the occupation approved of and given by the Lord for Christian women.

A Lady Looking in a Mirror by an Open Door
I have five amazing daughters and we love to put this video in and watch it while we fold laundry.  It has been helpful to all of us to learn new homemaking skills, but perhaps even more important at times, to be encouraged in our roles as keepers at home, when we are so often discouraged by the people around us who don't see the importance of this God-given occupation.  It is good for them to see not only me as an example of a homemaker, but to see that other women joyfully do this as well!

If you are a homemaker, I have no doubt that you will find this video encouraging and useful, especially if you have daughters in your household.  And there is more good news!  Jennifer has announced that there will be another video in the Homemaking 101 series.

I received this video free of charge to review.  The opinions expressed are my honest opinions.

Free Movie Online--It's Your Life

During the month of June, you can watch this sweet film from Moore Family Films (I actually had the pleasure of reviewing it a couple of months ago).  It Is Your Life: The Moss Family depicts the life of a Christian family who has made counter-cultural, yet distinctly biblical decisions to raise their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord.  This documentary will inspire and challenge fathers and mothers not to be deceived by the status quo of pragmatic parenting, but to look to the Bible for parenting principles as we raise our families.

Here is a synopsis for the film:

In this first film of the It Is Your Life series, get a refreshing glimpse into the daily life of the Mosses, a Christian family training their children in the ways of the Lord.

Learn:
  • Why they educate their children at home
  • Why Beverly stays home to care for the family
  • How George leads his family in Bible reading and prayer
  • Why they trust God for children after 6 c-sections
  • How God brought them through a time of trial
  • How brothers and sisters can be best friends
Be encouraged and inspired as the Mosses work together, play together, and pray together. See for yourself how a biblical vision of family life results in a strong family who loves each other and desires to glorify the Lord together. This is their life...

The Truth About Tattoos and Piercings

Are tattoos and multiple piercings for the Christian?  Is there a specific Bible passage that forbids these practices?  This video is very informative and helpful with this subject as it pertains to Christians.

Moore Family Films Review and Giveaway!

I have recently had the pleasure of being introduced to the Moore family, who produce some wonderful family films.  I just viewed three of their excellent, encouraging videos and am also blessed to be able to give some away to a very special reader!

Children are a Blessing DVD

This video documents how the Moores came to believe and understand what the Bible says about having children, instead of following our culture's rejection of children.  A brief history of the birth control pill is explored, along with eye-opening quotes by leading birth control proponent Margaret Sanger and  others.  We are also taken through the adventure of the Moores having their tenth child and the joy that surrounds another blessing. This encouraging DVD was a semi-finalist in the 2010 San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival.  Besides the documentary, there are 60 minutes of bonus footage, including a discussion with Shane and Edee Moore answering questions that is very helpful.

It Is Your Life: The Moss Family

This inspiring DVD gives us a glimpse into life with the Moss family.  My children also got to watch this and absolutely loved it.  We see how brothers and sisters can be best friends and enjoy each others' company.  We also see how one child faced what some would call a tragedy, with faith and trust in the Lord.  Other topics explored are why Mrs. Moss stays home to take care of the family, why they choose to homeschool, how Mr. Moss leads his family in Bible study and prayer, and more.

More Than Making Maple Syrup

Have you ever thought of making your own maple syrup?  This instructional video will show you exactly how!  The newest DVD from Moore Family Films shows all the steps and important information you need to tap maple trees yourself and make maple syrup.  But besides this, it is an uplifting film displaying how a Christian family can learn together and work together, truly enjoying each others' company along the way.

All three of these films were truly inspiring for me, and I will enjoy sharing them as a family to be watched again and again.  If you are looking for helpful, family-friendly films, these are definitely some to add to your library.  I am pleased that I am able to give away a set of all three of these DVDs to a very special Blessed Homemaking reader!  This particular giveaway is open to US residents only.  Of course, if you don't want to wait for the giveaway to end, you can purchase all of their DVDs at their website.
