Your Help is Needed--Deadline Today!

I have a small favor to ask that will be a help to all Americans who care for freedom & especially those who care about health freedom.  My family & I have been using homeopathy for years--on ourselves, the baby, our animals.  It is an all-natural means of stimulating the body back to health that the Lord has given us, & it has been a great help to us.

I have a special message from my friend Paola Brown that I hope you can help out with by submitting a comment and/or passing along this message to friends.  Here is what she has to say:

Hello, Friend!

Important update from our friends at Americans for Homeopathy Choice today:

As you can see we are still very behind on our goal. At this point, anything that can get us closer to 100K would be a huge win for us. Americans for Homeopathy Choice is meeting with legislators and our nation’s leaders, right now--possibly while you’re reading this email...and the higher our numbers are, the better ability they will have to influence your leaders that homeopathy matters to American homeopathy.

Believe us when we say, this is not a drill! Our goal is 100,000 comments by **TODAY**
Our progress so far: 25,770 comments sent.

Many of your friends who may not yet use homeopathy wouldn’t mind taking 10 seconds to defend your access to it. Find your voice, find your power and ASK friends and family to help. Then follow up with them...remind them with a text. We are asking you to take it upon yourself to get 10 friends to help.

Is there an age requirement?

You do not need to be 18 or older to comment! ANYONE can comment, regardless of age. We all use and benefit from homeopathy...from tiny babies all the way up to our grandparents, and so it’s great for these comments to represent all the consumers who love homeopathy.

Why are you doing this? Homeopathy needs your help!

What’s going on? The FDA is proposing to treat all homeopathic medicines as illegal. This means the agency will be able to withdraw any or all of them at any time.

This is a serious threat to the use of homeopathy as a healthy, alternative medicine. Our friends at Americans for Homeopathy Choice (AFHC), a consumer group made up of mothers and others, has submitted a petition to the FDA urging the agency to reconsider. The petition is supported by 20 leading homeopathy organizations.

Now, we need your help. We’re submitting comments to the FDA in support of the petition. When you leave a comment through the AFHC website, it goes directly to the FDA, as well as your members of Congress and other federal officials.

Click on the following link to find simple instructions for leaving a comment! We’ve prefilled a comment for you, so if that works for you, you can just fill in your name and press the "Leave Comment" button.

Thank you!
With gratitude,
Paola Brown

I hope you can help out!  Thank you so much.

Important Information for Your Family

Unless you've had your head literally buried in the sand, you've probably heard some things about a vaccine being in the works for COVID-19.  This will probably be as helpful as the flu vaccine is in preventing flu--people who get vaccinated still get the flu and even worse.

As mothers who care for our families, I believe we should be educated in matters of health, so we know the best decisions to make regarding our families' health.  Don't just take your doctor's word for it.  Many vaccines also contain aborted babies--do you think Christians should put any such thing in theirs or their children's bodies?

In light of the vaccine that is in the works and that may even be pushed upon people, there is a good video series going on right now which has just started, about vaccines.  I highly recommend you sign up (for free) to watch the series and educate yourself on the truth about vaccines.  You will want to sign up as soon as possible because the series has just started, and I believe that each section is only available for one day.  I have not watched this series before, but it looks like it will be very good.  I've done my own vaccine research, but I'm interested to see what else I can learn from this series.   You can sign up here.

What You Will Learn

The History of Vaccines
Vaccination programs are given credit for eradicating some of the most devastating illnesses of the past, but they’re no longer immune to controversy of their own.
Vaccine Risks and Safety Concerns
Concerns about vaccine injuries, mercury toxicity, and autism have increased substantially in recent years, and public debate is once again heating up.
Full List of Options and Alternatives
You don’t have to pro- or anti-vaccine anymore. New options are available to guard against serious illness, based on your unique situation and risk factors.
ALL NEW Episodes for 2020!
Two new full episodes titled: "Censorship & Suppression" and "W.H.O.'s Not Telling the Truth?"

Distractions and Fear Mongering

I don't know about you, but I am so sick of hearing about coronavirus.  I think a lot of it is fear-mongering to distract us from other things.  When doing my shopping this week online, I was barely able to get deliveries scheduled--no doubt because a lot more people are having their groceries delivered instead of going out to get them.  One store's website kept having technical errors, perhaps due to too many people on it at once.  And then, when I went to purchase toilet paper because we are running out, I could hardly find any to buy!--all because people are giving way to this fear the media is spreading like wildfire.  People are being completely selfish and stockpiling things they don't need.

We, as Christian homemakers, may just need to turn the news off until this passes.  We should be focusing on our homes and families and doing what we can for their health--feeding them healthy, home-cooked meals, for one.  It is processed foods and white sugar that harms our immune systems.  Also, as time permits, learn about treating your own family's health.  In the past, I have learned about essential oils and herbs, and then came to learn about homeopathy.  Homeopathy is my favorite.  We use it all the time for both acute and chronic conditions, and I am prepared with remedies, should the need arise.  Most importantly, we know that the Lord is in control, and as we obey Him, we need to trust in Him to take care of us through all these trials.  You may find this earlier post I have written, helpful ~ Protecting Your Mind as a Homemaker

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't want to live in fear, but one thing that does bother me is the things those in high places are trying to do while we are distracted by this virus.  For those of you interested, I'm copying some information on what the government has been up to, below.
Copied:
In case you haven't noticed, while everyone is distracted by all the coronavirus fear mongering, THIS is actively happening👇🏼🙄😧
SIX states across America are now in violation of the constitution and have stripped their people of their rights, removing exemptions for vaccines - medical, religious and philosophical. Some of these apply to homeschooling children as well or will eventually as new bills are passed.
👉MISSISSIPPI, CALIFORNIA, WASHINGTON, NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY AND MAINE.👈
➡️ Last month CONNECTICUT passed a bill to remove religious exemptions.
🚫 COLORADO has bill SB 163 going into Senate that removes exemptions and discriminates/mandates review of those choosing not to vaccinate or delay them.
🚫 ILLINOIS has a couple bills, one is to mandate HPV, another bill SB 3668 is to remove religious exemptions and allow for minors to consent on their own to vaccines.
🚫 FLORIDA has a bill SB 64 That would remove religious exemptions and restrict medical exemptions.
➡️ HAWAII passed bill HAR 11-157 that goes into effect soon that mandates the CDC schedule from childcare through college, adding additional vaccines/boosters including FLU and HPV and more for college entry.
🚫 IOWA bill HF 206 is out to remove religious exemptions
🚫 MASSACHUSETTS has a couple bills to remove religious exemptions, get approval from the government for medical and religious exemptions, mandate HPV and allow minors to consent on their own.
There will be more - in your state and added to these states. For homeschooling, for mandates, for consenting minors, for workplace mandates without exemptions, for public notice of vaccination status, for adult vaccine mandates.
IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU ARE FOR OR AGAINST VACCINES - THIS IS ABOUT FREEDOM, choice and the overstepping of the government officials who are in violation of the oaths they took and the Constitution that SAYS this is not legal.
Take a stand, join the fight, raise your voices, put them on notice. Please, before we lose all of our personal and parental rights.
https://www.nvic.org/Vaccin…/state-vaccine-requirements.aspx
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

National Vaccine Information Center is a reliable source of information.  I know some women hate the talk of vaccines and never look into it themselves and have even accused me of being "political" when I post something about them.  But this is not "political"--this is to be informed for the sake of our family's health, and also our freedoms.  Surely this is something important for mothers to do.  No one should be forced to put anything into their children's or their own bodies against their will.

Also, it has been shown that there is a connection between receiving a flu vaccine and being susceptible to coronavirus.

“Receiving influenza vaccination may increase the risk of other respiratory viruses, a phenomenon known as virus interference.”

“Vaccine derived virus interference was significantly associated with coronavirus...”

The Foundation to Improve Your Family's Health

Many years ago, when my children and I suffered from health problems, I took them to the doctor for help.  But I was either only offered prescriptions to mask the symptoms, or was given no help at all because the doctors had no answers.  After this, I began to research how I could naturally help my family be healthy, and a big majority of my research pointed to what we were eating!  Through God's loving providence, I learned about eating a traditional foods diet and began to implement what I was learning.  We saw dramatic improvements to our health.

I am forever grateful to the organization and work of Dr. Weston A. Price, who pioneered the research into the diets of traditional people groups several years ago.  There is now a foundation (WAPF) in his name that has made it their mission to spread the message and research on healthy eating, and you can join and be a part of the foundation.  I have been a member for several years and greatly appreciate their work and information, so I wanted to let you know that they are offering a discount in March of $10 for new members ($30 for US and $40 for non-US).

WAPF as a group is able to accomplish things that as individuals we can never do alone.
  • WAPF has helped bring traditional foods back to the plate—fermented veggies, raw milk, grass-fed meat, bone broth and more!
  • WAPF has been active in gaining greater access to these foods by backing supportive legislation and connecting food producers with consumers such that the availability of these foods has increased dramatically.
  • WAPF has supported the scientific validation of these foods through articles and research which helps people appreciate the value of these foods and eat them.
See even more things they do at: http://bit.ly/memberoverview

Please support this organization by becoming a member. Membership dollars help them continue their work. You will benefit by getting their quarterly journal, shopping guide and can join their members-only Facebook group. To join:http://bit.ly/membercheckout

The Shut In

Sleeping Girl

 I have been sick all week with the flu, and have been The Shut In.   I don't want my children to get sick, so I've been mostly staying in my room!  Thankfully, I have older girls who can cook, take care of the younger ones, and bring me things.  This is a blessing for sure!  I remember when I was a mother of only little ones, and my feeling unwell meant me getting up anyways, and sometimes resting on the couch, keeping an eye on the little ones. Sometimes they would get to watch a video so I could take a little nap there on the couch.

My girls have been taking care of me, and doing okay with the house.  Sadly, it is not in the state it would be if I was out there checking up on them!  But hopefully I will be all better soon and will be back at being Mommy.  I do miss my children very much.  They say "Hi" at my doorway and blow kisses, and they still say their prayers with me at my door every night.  My younger ones have been upset that they have not been able to hug me, but I do not want them to get this!

I have been praying every day that they would not get sick from me, and so far, the Lord has spared them.  I am so very thankful.  I have had a few that have felt the beginnings of sickness come upon them--a funny feeling in their throat.  And I will let you in on what I do when that happens.  I give them up to 3 doses of Aconitum Napellus 200 at the first sign of sickness.  This is a completely natural medicine, and many times this is enough to stop the sickness in its tracks before it progresses, or shorten the duration or severity of it.  With homeopathic medicine, you stop giving the remedy as soon as there is improvement.  Some of them also like to make a drink out of water, raw apple cider vinegar, and raw honey.  As for me, my fever, fatigue, chills, and body aches are gone.  However, my throat is still bothering me quite a bit.  Hopefully I will be all better soon.

Even though I don't enjoy being sick, I know the Lord has allowed this for me.  I have been able to use this time to rest, catch up on some paperwork, and other quiet tasks in my room.  I am also so thankful that this week was not one of our big shopping trip weeks!  Thankfully, we have had enough of what we need here at home, so I haven't had to go out.

I hope you all are well, and appreciate your prayers ♥

Safe, Effective Treatment of Skin Ailments, Chronic or Acute, with Homeopathy

 Does your family suffer from skin ailments?  Rashes, hives, eczema, acne, psoriasis, fungal infections, etc.  If so, you should pay attention!  The skin is the largest organ in the human body. It is also a terrific barometer of our health.  All of my children have had eczema.  I have had eczema.  A child and I have also dealt with hives.  Some of us have incredibly itchy skin at times!  This is not normal, and it can be helped.

When faced with skin problems, such as acne, hives or eczema, our first thought is to make the problem go away as quickly as possible.  But that strategy can cause more trouble than it fixes.  Skin problems are often a symptom of something more.

Indeed, they may be the first step in the body’s attempt to drive something from the inside (vital organs) to the outside (skin).

When we suppress this attempt with antibiotics, over-the-counter drugs and steroid creams, the illness can be driven deeper into the body, only to reappear later as a more serious problem.  Most diseases are processed through the skin from one organ within the body. In other words, the skin is the representation of illness or a condition on a deeper level.

Would you like to learn how to fix these problems yourself, without any dangerous drugs or side effects?  You can learn how to actually cure these problems with homeopathy.  I have been using homeopathy for a few months now with my family.  And we have seen more success with this than with herbs, essential oils, supplements, and diet.  Basically, homeopathy is an all-natural way to stimulate your body to cure itself.  That's right, CURE.  Not take life-long supplements, not avoid certain foods for the rest of your life (though I highly encourage a healthy, traditional diet).

(Go here to get your free gift.)

I hope you will take your skin issues seriously and know that there is hope and help! I've had an interest in helping people with health issues for a long time now, especially since I know how frustrating it is when the doctors have no answers and you and your children are still suffering.

Read more and watch a video about how to finally cure your family of skin ailments, which affect much more than your skin!

You can learn how to treat your family too.  There is a course with open enrollment right now, only until October 20, 2014.  It is conducted by Joette Calabrese, whom I have been learning from.  She is a great homeopath, and mom!  Here is a message from her:

Hello fellow Moms and Dads,

Many of you know me. I’m Joette Calabrese, and I’m a homeopathic consultant, lecturer, author and mother who has raised 3 boys to adulthood using only homeopathy and pig-headed determination.

I’m also a Weston A. Price Foundation Honorary Board member and author of the column in Wise Traditions called The Homeopathy Journal.

And believe me when I say this course is for you.

Even if you know a lot of homeopathy,
even if you know very little homeopathy,
and particularly if you’ve struggled in the past with homeopathy!

It is no longer necessary to undertake literally years of classroom study and many hours of clinical practice for you to master a health strategy that is both safe and effective at treating CHRONIC and ACUTE SKIN AILMENTS.

I also want to share with you Joette's story, because it is amazing:

My Story
"Many of you have heard me tell how I raised my children with homeopathy and pig-headed determination.
I have never told this story of my childhood horrors.

I was born with eczema, 62 years ago. Well, not exactly. I was actually 6 weeks old when it presented, not coincidently a few weeks after my first vaccine.

My mother pointed this out to the pediatrician. “My dear, where did you get YOUR medical degree?” the doctor retorted, putting Mom in her place.

Some things never change.

My mother was 24 years old at that time, but now in her late eighties, in spite of the decades between then and now, she still recalls his arrogance.

So, I was blanketed in eczema.

“No more whole milk, only skim…in fact, no dairy.” “No more orange juice…that means no citrus at all.” “No pets allowed in the house.” “No dust either.” “Take away the wool blankets.” “Oh, and the feather pillows too.” And, and, and.

This is the way the doctors handled my newly formed, vaccine-induced allergies that made my skin super itchy, swollen, cracking, inflamed and painful.

The doctor also came up with the following: “Smear this prednisone all over her skin, wrap her arms and legs in gauze (really tight), and put mittens on her hands so she can’t scratch.”
His genius was astounding.

Later when I was a little older, I was given shots. Sixteen shots every two weeks for what seemed like years. This made me angry, scared and did nothing for the eczema.

It also made me suspicious of doctors, their nostrums, their techniques and their empty promises. Even as a little girl, I grew skeptical and weary, but something else was brewing as well.

I knew deep down that there must be a better way. I believed that there must be a medicine that would cure this curse.

One day when I was getting my obligatory allergy shots (they always seemed excruciatingly painful to me as a child), the big window was open in my torture chamber, and I was, as usual, screaming my lungs out.

Across the street was the Buffalo Homeopathic Hospital. It was a mere 50 yards away.

I didn’t know it then, but had that hospital not been closed only a few years earlier, as a result of a smear campaign designed by the AMA to rid itself of the competition, my mother might have taken me there instead.

I might have been spared those brutal years of archaic methods and would not be telling this story now, some half a century later.

So the eczema remained fierce and all-consuming.

My parents tried everything. So did I.

I recall bartering with God. “God,” I said, “If you take away this bad skin, I pledge I’ll never disobey my parents again.”

Because the eczema only raged on, I disobeyed regularly. I concealed chocolate bars in my closet and drank whole milk on the sly, and when I was feeling particularly naughty, I accompanied it with oranges. I wore wool when my mother wasn’t looking.

It drove my skin and my mother crazy, but I just wanted a regular life like other kids.

And so I had ugly, itchy skin until I entered puberty.

Then it all changed. As a direct result of applying prednisone for years, instead of eczema I developed food intolerances and breathing problems that lasted decades, just as one doctor had predicted.

The doctors offered more of their ideas. Until one day, my mother said, “Basta!” which in Italian means “enough!”

The doctor didn’t understand it, even though she also said it to him in English, but we did and that was the end of allergy doctors, pediatricians and the big window in my allergy-shot torture chamber.

To say that my journey has been a long one is shortcutting decades of searching.

Today, I work with little children who are tormented as I was. With food avoidance “techniques,” allergy shots, ointments of questionable safety and superfluous multiple vaccines. But it’s different now.

After half a century, now I get my revenge.

Instead of kowtowing to the medical establishment, I teach families how to say “Basta!” to the methods that have not changed in more than 60 years.

Instead, I teach families how to uproot skin issues and get off the conveyor belt of stupid (childlike word choices sometimes seep out when I recall this story) methods not even worthy of being called medical.

Let me teach you about homeopathy. The medicine I knew had to exist all along. The medicine that would have cured me had that hospital still been open back in 1959.

I could go on but you get the image. I was a sick little girl, and I have been fighting all my adult life to correct all the ills that the medical profession loaded on me in those formative childhood years."

Go here to learn more or enroll in the course.  Joette will even be taking cases up until the end of enrollment, so you can submit your case, and she can explain just what you need to do for yourself or your family.

This is Your Last Chance (And You Don't Have to Read Everything)

I just want to remind you that today is your last chance to get the Ultimate Healthy Living Bundle. After today it's gone, and you will have missed your chance to get all of these amazing resources at a ridiculously low price!

In case you're feeling overwhelmed by all of the materials included in this huge bundle (over $1,000 worth of products...), I want to gently encourage you that you don't have to read every book, take every course, or take advantage of every freebie.  You will still get your money's worth.  Think of this as a library you can access whenever the need or desire arises.  Once you've downloaded your ebooks, you will have them available as you need them--no need to digest every one of them over the next few weeks.  You are completely free to read which ones you choose and take which courses you choose.  You may never have the desire to read all of them, and that's okay.

If you are still on the fence whether this bundle is right for you, I'd encourage you to look at the list of what's included, and pick maybe 10-15 that really interest you.  You will probably find that it's well worth $29.97, even if you just pick a few.  I want to share with you the items I am most interested in.

  1. The Eczema Cure by Emily Barlett.  I, myself, still sometimes have eczema flare up, as well as several of my children.  While we went on the GAPS diet for awhile, we were unable to continue, so I am very interested in this resource.  This resource alone is normally $29.95, so that covers the cost of my bundle.
  2. The Nourished Metabolism by Elisabeth Walling.  This one's all about metabolic health and involves no crazy diets!  I definitely think my metabolism needs some help and can't wait to read this one.  This ones normally costs $30; again the cost more than pays for the bundle.
  3. Traditional Remedies for Modern Families by Sarah Pope.  Sarah is a favorite blogger of mine at The Healthy Home Economist, and I can't wait to read her tips.  Normally priced at $9.99.
  4. Essential Oils & Natural Health by Jessie Hawkins (Vintage Remedies).  This one, I am SO excited about.  I've been learning about essential oils on my own and using them for awhile now, but this course looks AWESOME!  And the value is amazing--this incredible course normally costs $95, but is included in this bundle!
  5. Grocery Savings Made Simple.  I told you all about this when it was available for whatever price you could pay, and this is something I definitely am enjoying learning from.  It's all about saving money on groceries, even while feeding your family a healthy diet!  And the normal price of it is $37.
  6. A Practical Guide to Children's Health.  This one is a hand book of basic, well-researched information for parents to turn to when they need help with health.  There are several topics included that are important to parents, like super foods, special diets, picky eaters, healthy snack ideas, milk, grains and sugar, healthy recipes, OTC medications, prescription medications, vaccines, herbal remedies for common conditions, sleep issues, herbal guide, alternative practitioners, organic clothing and bedding, car seat safety, and more.  Normally $17.95.
  7. Making Organic Food Affordable:  A Step-by-Step Approach for Lowering Your Costs by 50% or More by Tara Wagner.  I purchase a lot of organic food (when I am able), and sure do need tips on lowering the cost of that.  We don't do well eating pesticides, so I buy what we can organic.  This one normally costs $18.00.
  8. Natural Soap Making: Cold Process Soap Basics & Recipes by Jan Berry.  Currently I have a dear friend who makes soaps and sends some to us, but I'd like to learn how to make our own some day, or at least teach my girls.  Normally $9.99.
  9. Whole Foods for the Everyday Cook:  Over 100 Natural Recipes for Everyday Cooking.  This is a nice-sized cookbook ebook and gets rave reviews on Amazon.  I'm looking forward to some new recipes!  Normally $6.99.
  10. Kids Eat Real Food: How to Raise Kids Who LOVE Real Food by Vanessa Pruitt.  I have one child in particular who is more attracted to junk food than the others.  This book has some great ideas (and recipes) to get children to love REAL food.  And normally, it's $16.99.
So there are 10 books/courses I want to start off with.  If I bought these individually, I would have spent about $272!  There is so much more included in this bundle--it is such a great deal!  I'd love it if you'd tell me what books/courses/products interest you most from this bundle.

Don't forget, today, September 15th is the last day to get your bundle!  Be sure to get it before the time's up!

How Much is Your Family's Health Worth?

So, for a while I've been promoting the Ultimate Bundles.  Why?  Well, it's certainly not because I make a ton of money from them, though sometimes I make a little.  One reason I get involved with these bundles is that I believe they provide tremendous value.  The products in this bundle are worth over $1,000.  There are several products I'm interested in that cost more than that, individually.

Another reason I'm promoting the Ultimate Healthy Living Bundle is because I am really interested in learning about health for my family.  After learning over the years that doctors don't usually provide cures but just treat symptoms, and experiencing the ill effects of that plus using chemicals in our home, I began the journey of learning how to treat my family myself (and have great success with it).  I always find it exciting to "further my education" when it comes to taking care of  my family.

I am passionate about sharing with others about health.  There are so many people suffering with illnesses these days, whether it be allergies or cancer, when I believe God has provided us ways to be healthy.  If you had the ability to learn how to help your family become more healthy, or keep the good health you have now, wouldn't you want to take that opportunity?  And what would that be worth?  Isn't it worth $29.97?

I have to be honest here and say that I prefer real, tangible, hold-in-your-hands books.  I guess I'm "old-fashioned" that way.  However, several resources these days are just not available in print books so I've had to learn to use ebooks for this purpose.  I don't think that makes the material less valuable at all.  Not to mention there are several ecourses included in this bundle.  Several of these are in video or audio form, which makes learning easy.

So I am going to take some time aside and learn some more to further my knowledge to help my family (and myself) be healthy and learn about some issues we still have.  I probably won't read every book or take every course, but I know the ones I want to read and take are regularly priced way more than $29.97!

I hope you will take this opportunity and get this great deal while it's available!  You will have many, many resources at your fingertips to help your family be on the road to health.

If you're ready for a health education...

What Are Essential Oils?

Balsam Root and Lupines Among Pacific Ponderosa Pine, Rowena, Oregon, USA

Are you familiar with what essential oils actually are?  Essential oils are the life blood of plants. The next time you drive by a field of fresh peppermint or hike through a pine forest, breathe deeply—you’re experiencing the soul-soothing power of essential oils. But essential oils are more than nice scents; these powerful plant extracts are your path to lifelong wellness.

Primarily extracted through careful steam distillation, but also through cold pressing, the purest essential oils are far more powerful and effective than dry herbs, delivering quick and effective results. Any time you hold a bottle of powerful essential oils, you are holding the pure essence of health-promoting botanicals that can be diffused, inhaled, applied topically, incorporated into massage, or taken internally.
Essential oils are the very smallest molecules of the plants. They are different than what we'd call "herbs".

Essential oils are not easy to extract. In fact, it takes someone years to learn the art of distillation.  The distillation process is different for different plants. They should be taken to, and held at different temperatures, for different lengths of time to get the best quality oil.

Every living thing has a frequency at which it operates. When something is dead, it has no frequencies. Essential oils have frequencies, which mean they are beneficial to our body because they may raise our frequency to normal when we are ill.

Are you familiar with the purity of essential oils?  Purity of essential oils is huge deal. Because all plants produce differently based on the seeds, planting time, harvest time, weather, etc. you will have variables from year to year.  But it's also important that plants are grown and harvested in correct locations to produce the purest oil.  After growing plants for essential oils, then we have to harvest and distill them---another very complicated process. It takes many years to become good at this!

For quality purposes, I only use Young Living essential oils.  I have not mentioned them on my site before because I wanted to use them for awhile to see how they worked for our family.  I have been very pleased, and we have been enjoying the benefits of Young Living essential oils for nearly three years now.

YES. Brands do matter because of the purity aspect. The growth of the plant, the distillation, the soil it was grown in--literally hundreds of variables effect the final product.

How can you tell if essential oils are pure?  One way to tell is by the smell if it's been extended with alcohol or a rancid fatty oil.    Putting the essential oil on paper is also a great way to check if it is not a blend which would have fatty oils in it.  The pure oils will not leave any mark on the paper, while adulterated oils leave greasy marks on the paper.

I hope to be sharing more with you about how we use essential oils in our family.  You may purchase Young Living essential oils here(To get a 24 percent discount on essential oils, sign up as a wholesale member.  It's kind of like joining a warehouse club like Costco or Sam's Club, except it's even better because you get product along with your membership price!)

Taking Care of Mother

Sleeping

Sometimes as mothers, we forget to take care of ourselves.  I am often guilty of this.  I have many little ones I must attend to--bathe, cook for, clean for, teach, love on...the list goes on and on.  At the end of every day I am exhausted.  And I have not been going to bed early enough to get enough sleep.  I wake up exhausted too.

So what usually happens after a while is my body gets angry with me and makes me slow down.  It makes me rest.  I had one of those days yesterday...

Disclosure: Purchasing through links in this post supports this site--thank you!

As I was changing the baby's diaper and smiling at my little darling, my vision started getting spotty.  Well, I knew what was going to happen soon.  I put the baby to bed and grabbed my peppermint essential oil and breathed it in.  I also applied some lavender essential oil all along my hairline and on my temples.  Then I started to give my children instructions.  My eldest assured me she could make dinner (so glad she can do that!), the girls were to do their spelling lessons, and everyone else was to clean up and be quiet!  I prepared my diffuser with peppermint and lavender essential oils and laid down as the migraine came.  I had to take care of Mother.

After several hours of rest and breathing in the soothing aroma, I felt a lot better.  I was finally able to eat, and I got to bed earlier than I have been lately.  The children, however, did not clean up (at least not all of them), so our living room looks like, well, there were lots of children making messes in it.  But that will get taken care of today.

Yesterday, I had to take care of Mother, and I will try to do better every day by going to bed at an earlier hour.  I have to be rested to take care of my children.  How about you--do you remember to take care of yourself?

Update:  I have now found something that has almost completely eliminated all of my migraines and headaches.  Praise be to God!  Read all about it here.

Don't forget about the Natural Mothering ebook Bundle sale going on.  I hope I can get one too!

A Natural Source of Iron

Sometimes women with child may find that in the late stages of pregnancy they have become anemic.  You may go in for your third trimester blood work and get a call from your doctor's office or midwife informing you that you are low in iron and must now take an iron supplement, maybe even three times a day.  Then they also inform you that the iron supplement may cause difficulty by giving you constipation, for which you may need to take some medication.  Of course, you may also become anemic even if you are not pregnant.

Sleeping

So what is a lady to do?  Well, there are other options that will not cause you so much grief.  There is a natural iron supplement called Floradix.  It is most commonly found in liquid form in a glass bottle.  Floradix contains not only iron to help with anemia, but herbs as well.  Unlike other forms of iron, this type is easily absorbed by your body and won't cause those unpleasant side-effects mentioned earlier.  I know because I am using it myself!  I had gotten so tired that I was falling asleep in the afternoons quite against my wishes, and just could not get myself to stay awake.  There were a few times that my dear, amazing daughters made dinner for me because they saw that I was napping and wanted to let me rest.

I have heard some people complain of the taste, but I have not found the taste to be too bad at all.  It does have some fruit juices in it, which make the taste quite palatable.  However, it does have a very distinct smell that I don't really care for.  But that is a small trade-off for still being able to function normally!  I have even heard someone say that the taste was great to her when she was iron-deficient, but then it didn't taste so good when her iron was back up to normal.

So hopefully this will help someone who is having this very fatiguing problem.  I was able to purchase the Floradix on Amazon with gift certificates I've earned with Swagbucks and taking surveys.  If you don't want the 17 oz. bottle, there are other options here, but I think the 17 oz. bottle is the best deal.

Another option is to purchase some grass-fed liver, sold at health-food stores, and freeze it.  After two weeks you may cut off little pill-sized portions of the liver (still frozen) and swallow them just like pills, if you can't stand the taste of liver.  This will give you a healthy dose of iron also.  Though I haven't tried this method yet, I have heard it works well.

Come Quickly, Fall

Yes, that's right.  Spring has just started, and I am longing for fall.  Oh, so much.  Maybe you would too if you had visits from such lovely creatures as I have.

Today I took the children out to play.  I had to check the yard and porch for black widow webs and the spiders themselves, removing the webs as much as I can.  This is normal when the weather warms up here.  It gets tiring of nobody being able to go out to play until I have made sure everything is "safe", but it's something I have had to adjust to.

Then, when we came inside, one of my daughters alerted me to a bug speeding across the floor.  A good old friend, the wind scorpion.

It's actually not a scorpion at all, but a spider.  It gets its name because of its resemblance to a scorpion, and because it, well, runs like the wind.  Its bite will not kill you, but is extremely painful, as they have four jaws.  Horrid.  I would show you a picture but you might get nightmares.  Thankfully, this one was a baby, so I smashed it with my shoe before it could get away.  Much better than having it run over my foot by surprise (I've had that happen--I jumped up on the couch that time).  I spread fresh cedar granules in the house to build up our defense (hopefully).

But that's not all.  Just a few minutes ago I went into the kitchen and found a surprise.  Can you guess what it was?

Yes, a black widow.  In the kitchen.  Me.  Not happy.  I quickly grabbed some natural bug spray we have and squirt her.  She quickly ran away, but I am hoping the spray took its deadly effect on her.  I am glad we have found a spray that is not a harmful neurotoxin, but we are almost out so I hope we can get more soon.

What I am really, really dreading is the scorpions.  Yes, that too.  I have found them in our house in previous years...But thankfully, I have never been stung, nor have the children.  Oh, I am so thankful for that.  I am always the one who finds them for some reason!  They must like my feet.

Oh, fall cannot come soon enough.  I hope your warm weather is doing you better than it is me!  And if you know of any natural remedies to keep black widows away, please let me know!

Homemade Gnat Trap

Buy at Art.com

Several years ago we had a horrible gnat problem.  They came in through the holes in our window screen, and I did not know how to get rid of them at the time without harmful pesticides.  But if you have a problem with gnats, you can make a homemade gnat trap quite simply.  All you need is a glass, some apple cider vinegar, and some paper.

You can make this trap by making a funnel out of your piece of paper, which is then placed in the opening of a glass that has apple cider vinegar in it.  The apple cider vinegar lures the gnats in, but the funnel keeps them from getting out.  Make sure your funnel hole is not too big, or the gnats will be able to get back out.

After you have made a funnel with your paper and have checked how far down it will sit in your glass, pour the apple cider vinegar in the glass so that it will be as close as possible to the bottom of the funnel (of course do this without the funnel in the glass).  The gnats prefer glasses instead of plastic cups.  These traps can be placed where you see gnats the most.  Go here to see pictures of the trap.

Edited to add:  I can't remember how well this worked for gnats, but it definitely worked great for fruit flies!
