Little Worries~Flutter By

Today I've been letting the worries get to me...

Oh, we have been making it, little by little, just day by day...

You may remember reading about my husband getting his hours cut.  We're still in that situation, that supposedly temporary situation.  My eyes have wanted to fix on our situation, look away from God, worry.  Even though I've seen God provide in miraculous ways, I get my eyes off of Him, and get them stuck on "the situation".  You know, the one that God knows about, already.  Today was one of those days.

Lord, I know we've been able to pay all of our bills...
Lord, I know that You keep bringing money to us one way or another...
But...
Did You know we need a new roof on the house?
The washing machine is almost broken?
All those other little things we've been needing to buy but still my husband's hardly getting paid?
Lord, the tax refund won't stretch far enough...
Lord...

Why do I do it?  I don't know.  I am feeble and weak.  I forget so easily.  But it should not be so.  I should remember what the Lord has done for me...

So I put on some Scripture Songs.  The children and I sing; we praise God.  We sing the very words in His Word.  I wash dishes.  The children put them away.  I start to smile.

Life will go on, whether I worry or not.

Will I trust Him?

Butterfly
And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.
In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.
For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness.
For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God?
God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.
He maketh my feet like hinds' feet: and setteth me upon my high places.
(2 Samuel 22:2, 3, 7, 29, 32-34)

The Lord is my Rock.

  1. My dear...I understand...some days it's so hard. I have found though that it's best to be honest with my feelings and emotions of that moment or day. I am not saying to not have faith in God though. :o) He will make a way...He will show us how the miracles of our faith in Him will open up! When I opened our electric bill this past month I freaked out! I started to worry and was sick to my stomach. Then remembered to pray...so I did. And miraculously enough the bill was paid in full before it was due. I'm still amazed at how it happens...but PTL He is greater then us and our human thoughts! I will be praying for you my dear! :o)

  2. I think you are right. We should talk to Him about it, but not complain. (I think of the murmuring Israelites and how *not* happy God was with their complaining).
SO good that He is greater than us and our petty thoughts! How they run away if untamed!
Thank you for your prayers, dear one!

  3. I understand your plight Mrs Q.
We are having to pinch pennies and trust the Lord a whole lot more these days too!
It isn't always easy to remember that He provides for His children.
We get caught up thinking that our husband wage is our security, don't we?!
You did the right thing by entering into praise to break the negative thoughts.
    He realy IS our Rock!
Praying for both of us to learn to trust Him more :-)
    blessings..Trish

  4. Mrs. Q,

There are some things going-on in my part of the world that are worrisome to me as well. Your post is reminded me that I have weaknesses too, and that I need to go to the Lord with my worries instead of being like those "complaining Israelites."

It's not always easy to trust in the Lord when things are so "tight" and unpredictable! I'm going to keep you and your family in my prayers, Mrs. Q.

    Take care Dear Mother.

  5. Oh, I know just what you mean. At our Bible assembly last weekend they addressed this very thing. They brought out Matthew 6:25 about not being anxious but then read Matthew 6:11 and brought out something I haven't thought about before. Jesus prayed that God give us our bread for THIS day. That we shouldn't worry about material provisions for the future but be content knowing we have what is sufficient for the day. Which is so true we never know what tomorrow will bring; time and unforeseen occurrence befall us all. (Ecclesiastes 9:11) Anyway, I really appreciated that and thought you might too. :)

  6. I was reading this post and the words of the song "Trust and Obey, for there is no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey" came to mind.

it's a children song, with so many truth, we ought to teach them those truth, but I think we mothers learn them along with our little children.

Trusting is never easy because we need to give up something, giving up our control over our emotion (anxiety, stress etc..) control is hard to give up!

  7. {{hugs}}Dear Mrs. Q, you are an inspiration. Thank you for your honesty. You are blessed and rich beyond measure to be able to spend your hours with your precious children...but you know that already.

Praying God meets your needs today.

    Love and blessings...

  9. My husband has had two MAJOR pay cuts in his job in the last six months. Now, we have been faced with the possibility of less work hours but I see God moving and working and things are looking better. I tend to worry too but then I keep giving it back to the Father. If I could just take it to the cross and leave it there permanently. I know times like these stretch our faith and in the end we are better off and more trusting in our Saviour. After these times, when we look back, I hope we both see where our faith grew and the miracles God did to see us through! Big smiles - this was great inspiration.. I love an open, transparent post because those are the ones that touch others the most and help you to pour out your heart.
    Blessings! Cass

  10. I AM STILL PRAYING. PRAYING AS I SIT HERE WONDERING HOW I AM GOING TO FEED MY KIDS TIL TUES WHEN MORE MONEY COMES. PRAYING WHILE I LAMENT THE FACT THAT MY KIDS NEED SHOES DESPERATELY. PRAYING WHILE I DECIDE TO STAND AND WORSHIP CHRIST ANYWAY.
    GLORY BE TO GOD!
