Help for Those in Need

The last few days we have had some incredible wind.  The skies seemed to have a complete covering of dirt and sand.  Yesterday it was so bad that we couldn't see the mountains (which are quite large where we live).  I had to go shopping and it was a little hard to drive our big van as the wind wanted to push the van its own way.  I  had to be careful that the van doors didn't slam shut on little children (or me) when we were getting in and out.

Tornado at Sundown

But that is nothing in comparison to what some suffered.  I don't like to watch the news much (for a variety of reasons), and I was too busy to be on the computer a lot the last couple of days.  But today I received some emails alerting me of the terrible tornadoes that swept through Alabama recently.  You may already be aware of this, but the Crawfords of Generation Cedar lost their house.  Praise God they and some neighboring families were kept safe in the Crawford's basement during the tornado.  The Lees, a family with 13 children, however, lost their dad.  You can read about them here.

Thankfully the Christian community has been helping these families, but of course more help is needed as these and other families have lost just about everything.  You may donate through Providence Peoria Church (where James McDonald is pastor).  I have also heard that June Fuentes of A Wise Woman has set up an account for donations as well, and she also has some videos from the families.

I hope all of my readers are well and safe.  May we lift up these families in prayer and help in any way we can.

Blessings.

  1. We don't live where there's tornadoes. We get strong wind from time to time that howls and makes a mess but, no tornadoes, thankfully. We get earthquakes in western U.S.

I will be praying for these families affected by the storms. You folks stay safe.

  2. Such heartache and tragedy!
I am a very long way from the USA but I feel so deeply for those who are suffering.
I know I'd be terrified of tornadoes and I watch the news of them in horror.
Our God is so good..but still some lose their lives.
I join you in praying for all in need.
And I'm so glad you and yours are ok!!
    God bless you, dear friend..

  3. After hearing about the terrible tornadoes and the toll they took on so many, I just have not had any heart for blogging. I'm trying to get back into it now. I have been praying so fervently for the families who have lost so much. I keep thinking particularly of the Lee family who lost their husband, father, and provider. I cannot imagine what they must be going through right now. "For His anger endureth but a moment; in His favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." (Psalm 30:5)

  4. Mrs. Q,

Your situation with the van certainly did not sound fun. However, I am grateful that you and your children survived the storm.

Yes, I heard about The Crawford's and the Lee Family, and it breaks my heart. I don't even live in Alabama, but I am still in shock that this tragedy has befallen these families. I just pray that they will continue to get the support that they need to wade through these difficult moments in their life.

  5. Shelly~I am sure they appreciate it.

Mrs. Mr. A~We are not in the same state as these tornadoes occurred, but sometimes there are tornadoes here. We do get some crazy wind that is just awful with all the sand we have too. I'm thankful natural disasters are rare here, though we do have flash-flooding.

Trish~thank you for joining in prayer. It is heartbreaking.

Miss Linda~I know what you mean about not feeling like blogging much. I'm so sad for the Lees too.

Lady Rose~I am thankful too that the families are being helped.
