How to Sharpen Scissors

Here is a tip to sharpen your scissors.  (Now I have not tried it yet, but I hear that it works).

Grooming Scissors

  1. Get a 12-14 inch strip of heavy-duty aluminum foil.
  2. Fold it into 8 layers
  3. Use your dull scissors to cut as many thin strips of foil as you can (preferably 25)
  4. That's it!  You should have sharp scissors
*If you are using standard weight aluminum foil, just fold it into 16 layers instead and follow the same steps.

  3. I just might need to try this. It seems I have quite a collection of scissors, in practically every room in my house! I usually take my scissors to the sewing store to have them sharpened. It would be wonderful to be able to do that at home. Thank you for sharing the tip.

Oh, by the way, I just *love* the image that prefaces this post. You always choose such beautiful images to adorn your posts. For me, that is one of the great pleasures of blogging!

I hope you have a blessed weekend! :)

  6. I have tried this and it works to a certain extent. I'd probably have my sewing scissors professionally done though.
