Why Clean the House?

Maid Cleaning Upstairs Hallway Inside Blair House

I am gratefully taking a homemaking course right now, and part of our first assignment is to write an essay on why we should clean our homes.  I thought I would share it with you here for inspiration.

Why Clean the House?

1) My husband does not like to come home to a dirty, disorganized house.  When he comes home from a day at work (at a place that is kept clean by maids), he doesn't want to come home to dishes left out all over the kitchen and messes strewn all over the floors.  He wants a pleasant, clean place to relax after a hard day's work.
2) My children don't like living in a messy place.  They want to know that Mommy cares enough about them to keep the house pleasantly clean and tidy.  It is frustrating to them when Mommy gets upset during her day because she herself if disorganized.
3) When I clean the house, I am also setting an example for my children who will hopefully one day also be homemakers (the 5 girls).  If I clean the home, I am showing, in deed, what my daughters will need to do when they have their own homes and families to take care of.  My son will learn how to keep up after himself and not be so much of a burden for his future wife and perhaps help her when it is needed.
4) Cleanliness itself--a dirty house is a house for germs and sickness to thrive.  A clean and pleasant home enhances the physical and mental well-being of my family who lives here.
5) Nobody likes a disorganized home.  Disorganization leads to frustration for everyone who lives in the home.  It is harder to find things, important things get lost, and we may even buy additional items because we don't know we had something because it got "buried" in the junk.
6) Hospitality--if our home is clean and well-kept, I am more inclined to have people over and won't be surprised when people stop over unannounced.  A visit from friends and family won't require a cleaning marathon, and it shows kindness to them when they come over to a clean, well-ordered home.
7) The Bible speaks praises of a busy, fruitful woman who takes care of her home.  As a Christian, I am called to be a keeper at home, which definitely entails me cleaning it!

  3. If you keep the house clean and tidy, it makes keeping it in order so much easier. Before I go to bed I always make sure I leave the living rooms tidy and the kitchen cleaned up, that way I awake to calmness and less stress.
