Living on Faith Mother

This week has not been an easy one. I meant to make a nice Thanksgiving post, but I was too busy in the kitchen to get it done. Thankfully we had a lot of the needed food items to make a nice Thanksgiving dinner. I made a turkey with stuffing, sweet potato puree, green beans, red chile sauce with meat (a favorite of Mr. Q's), and onion cranberry compote. The stuffing, sweet potato puree, and onion cranberry compote were all new recipes for me this year. I was planning on also making a pumpkin pie and a pear-cranberry pie, but I haven't gotten to it yet! (Like I said, not an easy week). Hopefully I can get those done tomorrow before Mr. Q gets home.

On Thanksgiving my Mr. Q had to work, and some family members came by to visit for a bit. They blessed us with some napkins, paper towels, tissue, and lotion (Oh, how I need lotion right now!) I let them know that they cut Mr. Q's hours again this week--by another 2 hours per week. Our guests tried to bring me down with fear--"What are you going to do?!" "How are you going to pay your bills?!!!" They had all kinds of ideas about what Mr. Q needs to do to take care of the situation to pay our bills. But Mr. Q has his own ideas. We have talked about it, and he has told me what he thinks he should do. We have no debt except our mortgage, praise God. Just our monthly bills. How they will get paid, I do not know. We will be over $300 short for the month (hopefully it's just one month). But should I worry and fret and fear? No, fear is not from the Lord. The Lord knows I am in submission to Mr. Q, and I do not tell him what to do. I do not disrespect him when he has made a decision (I try not to anyways; sometimes I fail). The Lord knows how I try to save this family money. I always have a list when I go shopping, price match, and use coupons when appropriate. I try not to waste our electricity, gas, or water. The Lord knows our needs. The Lord can meet them. Mr. Q is losing 1/4 of his pay. Yes, please continue to petition the Lord on our behalf. The good Lord who has us in His hands.

I am a Living on Faith Mother. I will put my faith in the Lord to take care of us. Mr. Q and I, and our 6 dear children. I will keep my love for the Lord and my family before me and always in my heart, and have peace that my God knows all of our needs.

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. (Matthew 6:25-34)

Thanks for stopping by.

I'm sorry to hear that your relatives were trying to make you "worry" about the situation in regards to your husband's job. You are doing the right thing by putting your trust solely in the Lord as well as submitting to your husband's plans. This is what you are called to do as a wife and mother.

Anyway, I am glad that you had a nice Thanksgiving dinner. It sounded good to me (the food that is :). Take care, and I will continue to keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

    Blessings and Friendship,

    -Lady Rose

P.S. I know that I still owe you an email. I have not gotten to responding to my emails yet. I am sorry that I am taking SO long! :(

  2. I have just found your blog and I wanted to encourage you about the situation you are in...I know God will provide for you, He has never let me down. When I find myself in this situation, first of all I do pray but then I try to think of something I can do. Some of the things I have done to make money when we are short--have a yard sale, clean a friend's house, sell something I no longer need like an item of furniture, make homemade items and sell them, do alterations and sell baked goods.

  3. Thank you Lady Rose for your prayers. Thank you both for your encouraging words.
Anon~thank you~God has never let us down either, though it seems I have a hard time remembering this. Well, what if *this* time we can't pay all of our bills? All those ideas you have sound good; I just lack greatly in the area of time to do them in! I used to sell on ebay things we no longer need, but with all the changes they've made, it's really not very successful for me anymore. I actually have had requests to make portraits for some people, but I greatly lack in the time department. If only there were two of me...
