~**Snowy Day and Christmas Plans**~

Last Friday I meant to write and tell you that we got our first snow for the season here.  We got about 6-8".  After lunch I bundled up the children and took them outside to play in the snow, which of course they had been begging to do.  Husband did not have work that day, so he joined us too.  What a surprise!  We were outside laughing and enjoying our time when suddenly I got hit with a snowball.  Husband!  And so the snowball fight began.  Oh, our little boy, who is 2, laughed and laughed and laughed.  He had never seen such a thing.  Mommy and Daddy throwing cold white stuff at each other!  Oh, and the children had so much fun.  They got Dad with their snowballs!  One little child didn't like the snowball fight though.  Miss Innocent, who is four, went and hid on the front porch.  She also exclaimed that she didn't want anybody throwing snowballs at her Mommy!  When Husband went in because he was done throwing snowballs at everybody (with no gloves on), I helped Innocent build a snowman close to the front porch.  The snowman was smaller than she is, had rocks for eyes, and twigs for the arms and smile.  I do not remember the last time I made a snowman before I had children, and I'm not very good at it!  I wish I had pictures to show you, but our camera batteries are dead, and there is no money to buy more.

What are you all planning for Christmas?  Friday we plan to have dinner at Husband's parents' house, and I'm sure they will have gifts for the children, as they love to get them gifts.  Husband's parents got the girls some beautiful, fancy dresses to wear, along with tights and new dressy shoes.  The girls will be so excited to wear them.  The dresses are only hand-washable though, otherwise I'm sure they'd wear them every other day!  For Christmas, my dad told me he would like us to go to church with them.  So after our time with my in-laws, we will head to church to meet my parents.  This is the church I spent most of my growing-up years in.  My parents don't usually attend there but visit every once in awhile.  They told me that many people would like to see me who haven't seen me since I was a teenager.  I am not sure what we will do on Christmas day.  Husband has to work.  I would like a quiet day to reflect on the birth of our Savior.

May you have a blessed time as you celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ Our Lord.

  1. Dear Mrs Q, it sounds like you will have a lovely Christmas with your close family. New dresses and shoes - how delightful for your girls! Our family gathering will be on Christmas Eve this year. It will be nice to have the lights and candles flickering away :-)
Your snowfight makes me smile as it brings back memories of my sons and the shenanigans we got up to in the snow when they were small!! Such fun times :-)

  4. Mrs. Q,

It sounds like you and your family had fun playing in the snow. I am surprised that Mr. Q was able to make snowballs without his gloves, wow! He must have some very durable hands! :) Yes, it's too bad you didn't have pictures, but that's okay, I just used my imagination and it was enjoyable. :)

During the holidays, we will be visiting with my mother one day, and my husband's parents on another day. Hopefully, it will be a nice time.

Take care, and I hope that you enjoy spending time with your family.

P.S. Oh, as for the comment you made on my post regarding "rest," you know, the one where you said, "Does this mean I can go back to bed?" I got a good chuckle out of that one. You're funny Mrs. Q. Yes, you just try and go back to bed with 6 sweet blessings tagging at your skirts, you just try, and I bet you won't succeed, tee hee! :)

  5. Lady Rose~
My husband is tough, as he's worked with his hands for the majority of our marriage ;)
    Glad you liked the post.

I hope you had a good time with your visiting! I'm glad you enjoyed my comment on your post :)
You are right, it would be impossible to go back to bed with 6 little ones!

    Merry Christmas Mrs. Stam!
