This is my beloved daughter, when she was 9, enjoying her time in the kitchen. She is making homemade whole wheat tortillas. She is now skilled enough to measure out all the dry ingredients from memory (though I still do the liquid for her). She also likes to roll out the tortillas. But it is not enough for her to just make a regular circle! She made some of them into star shapes...
She even had the idea to use some small pieces of dough to make little eyes and a smile! I love my clever girl!

hey, stars always make for better burritos :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I haven't tried them with burritos!
DeleteI do believe she likes creative cooking! LOl! I like the stars and that pic of her is so cute!
ReplyDeleteShe does, and thank you :)
DeleteShe is so cute! The tortillas look so good, but what a shame to eat her art-work. I'm sure she will grow up to be an excellent cook.

Thank you! Yes, you almost don't want to eat them :)
DeleteMy 5 year old twins love to cook too:) Its a great way to teach!
ReplyDeleteI love to see how our children progress in their skills!
ReplyDeleteThat star is adorable! Who says homemaking can't be creative and fun?!:)
I was making Yorkshire Pudding the other night for dinner and my 19 year old son asked if he could make it, he did with me just as a guide. Following the yummy meal he cooked up a dessert which was also very tasty. I have encourage all my children to cook and now they love cooking and trying out recipes.
ReplyDeleteHow fun, looks so cute too!
