Motherly...
Sometimes it is not until you become ill, that you remember what a blessing it is to be in health. Good health is a gift from God. The last few days I have fallen ill to the point of barely being able to eat anything besides homemade chicken broth. I am feeling somewhat better today and am carefully enjoying bits of food. These times remind me what a joy and blessing it is to be able to do the simple tasks of daily life---doing laundry, washing dishes, cooking meals, cleaning the house...These things are missed by the homemaker when she cannot do them.
Thankfully my eldest, who is ten, took up the reins yesterday and made some health-giving yogurt and also dinner in my "absence". These things also show one the blessings of daily training of daughters to be keepers at home (Titus 2:5). Other daughters also cleaned bathrooms and swept and mopped the floors. If I had not taken the time to train our children in doing these tasks, they would not be able to help when I am sick.
I am also reminded of the importance of getting done each day what you can because you never know if you will be able to work the next day or not. That is why the homemaker should have daily tasks to accomplish and the resolve to get them done each day. Even with daughters to help, I know I still get behind when I am unable to work for just one day.
So I am hoping I feel much better soon so I can get back on task, and may the Lord bless you with good health.

ReplyDeleteI've been ill for several months with insomnia and sleeping disorders (besides other things), and oh, how I miss having good health about now that I took for granted when I had it! Now, when I have good days, I feel truly blessed and thankful!
Thank you, dear Mara. Feeling almost 100% today.
DeleteI do hope you can get to feeling better. I hate hearing that you're not doing well.
This is the reason why I trained my sons to manage a home so if their wives fall sick they can take over. my eldest son is marrying a young lady who suffers from migraines so there will be many times in their married life when my son will need to cook and clean. My husband cooks and helps if I'm ever sick which is lovely and when I get out of bed he's done an excellent job.
ReplyDeleteThat will surely be a blessing to your sons' wives, Joluise!
DeleteI'm sorry I just got your comment and missed your bloghop. Maybe next time?
