If you want to see improvement in your children's behavior, there is a very important thing you must do, without fail. This is to keep your children with you throughout the day. Keeping your children with you allows you to notice all the things they are doing or saying which are sinful or undesirable. After you witness them doing or saying something they shouldn't, you can immediately correct them, instructing them in the right way.
Also, don't forget to look for the good things they do! Children love to hear praise from their parents when they are doing something correctly, so be sure to take notice of what they are doing right (Susie kindly shared her dolly with Sarah, etc.), and let them know it was good.
Never correct them in anger. Remain calm and pleasant, but instruct with firmness and confidence, leading them in the right path. Give them lots of smiles, hugs, and kisses when they are doing right and you are enjoying your time together.

Thank you for the post. I have a 7,6 4 and 3 year old and we home educate, what do you do about their free play time? Do you have them bring all of their toys in the living room? How would you go about introducing this new concept of being near mom all day? I've read about this in the past but never figured out how to implement it. My 2 older children have been sufficiently trained but my 2 younger children never received the same amount of training because I never seemed to have the time since we've started schooling. Thank you for sharing.ReplyDelete
I would have them bring whatever they're doing in where I am. They don't have to bring loads of toys, just something to keep them occupied. To introduce it, I just let them know we're going to be together all day! They like that concept, so usually it is not a problem. I hope you are successful in your training. I understand how the younger ones can miss out on some training. Remember the training must be more important than school.
Great reminders...even though it's hard sometimes to have the little ones underfoot all day, it's wonderful training for them - and fellowship with them :) Thanks for this post. :)ReplyDelete
