Love in a Meal
Day after day, meal after meal. Three times every day. I do not have a break from it. We do not go out to eat or order in. On occasion we go to eat at someone else's house, but that is rare.
But this is part of my work, part of my love. I cook for my family. I prepare their food. Every week, I spend a good hour planning out meals to fill their bellies three times a day. And no meals come from a box here. I plan purposefully to feed them nourishing, healthy foods. I have researched and seen firsthand what those processed foods do to you and your loved-ones. So I plan for health and tastiness.
Sometimes I am tired, but still, I must continue on because my family needs to eat. And now that I have some older children, I have helpers. And we put love in a meal. We share conversation as we prepare the food. I continue to teach and instruct, but mostly, they know what to do on their own.
When we sit down together to eat, we look into each other's eyes and enjoy our food. We laugh and talk. This is love in a meal. ♥

DeleteThis is so true. I remember when one of my children was talking to a friend and said that his mom added a special ingredient when she cooked. The friend asked what it was and my son said, "love!" I almost cried .lol!
