Checking for Bread Freshness

Still Life, Bread

Buy at AllPosters.com

I usually try to always make my own bread, but there are those occasions when I am just not able to due to time constraints. I just got a good tip for how to find the freshest bread at the store, if you have to buy store bought bread:

Bread is delivered fresh to stores five days a week. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Each day is signified by a colored twist tie or clip.

They are as follows:

Monday = Blue

Tuesday = Green

Thursday = Red

Friday = White

Saturday = Yellow

So, if today was Thursday, you would want a red tie or clip; not white which would be from last Friday (a week old).

The colors go alphabetically by color which makes it easy to remember. I am not sure if this applies if you buy bread from a store that bakes their bread fresh at the store (like Sunflower Market here). I will have to check it out the next time I'm there.

Have a blessed Saturday!
