Just a Little Update

Hello dear readers,

I just wanted to make a quick post to say hello and let you know I am still here.  I have not written much because I have been a little down.  I am not sure exactly why.  It may have something to do with my approaching birthday this weekend.  I see the years just flying by, and I am not where I want to be yet as a homemaker, wife, mother...There is so much I want to teach my daughters and exemplify for my son when he seeks a wife, but I just don't have the skills yet, and it seems at times I won't ever get them.  There is so much I want to do well but don't yet.  I know none of us have "arrived" yet, but I had just hoped I would be further along by now...

And these dear children have been so busy working on my birthday presents--I have never seen them work so hard, ever.  I can't believe how much they look forward to their mother's birthday.  And all the while momma has been less than pleasant off and on due to worries on my mind, and yet there they are, toiling away.  I am so undeserving of this love...and yet so grateful.

Goodnight Hug

I am sorry I have not been able to post replies to your comments or visit your blogs lately.  I have been sick with a different sickness (some kind of nasty cold maybe?) since Saturday evening.  I have virtually lost my voice, but it is starting to come back now.

On a lighter note, be looking for a post from me soon ~ I am going to be hosting a giveaway right here on Blessed Homemaking!

Thanks for stopping by,

  1. Gentle huggles. Sometimes waiting and being patient are very hard things. I have no doubts you are a wonderful mother if you are this concerned with being a mother! Oh and happy birthday too. I will pray for you be sure of that. May you have a blessed weekend.

  3. Mrs. Q,

I'm not a mother, but as a wife, I know that I too tend to do much worrying that I have not "arrived" where I would like to be as a homemaker and helpmeet to my husband. Dear friend, if those sweet children of yours are working SO hard to make your birthday a special one, that should be a good indication right there that you are doing SO much for them. Otherwise, they would not care about their mother. Try to remember that.

I'm currently learning that being a Keeper at Home is a continuous growing process. As long as we are willing to fullfill our roles as wives/mothers, God will continue to strengthen us in our resolve. It's only when we give-up completely that we loose our strength and faith.

Lastly, I am sorry to hear that you are feeling ill as well as "down." I felt "down" this past week too. My "downness" comes and goes in stages, and it's quite upsetting on ocassion. I don't have any solutions to cure "downness." Sometimes, we simply have to "weather the storms of downess" with the strenght that comes from our Lord. I do hope that your illness (cold) clears soon. I know it's no fun to be sick.

Well, I think I have written a book here, Mrs. Q. I am sorry about that. Please know that my heart goes out to you, and I will say some prayers for you today as I go about my housework. :)

    Blessings and Friendship,

    -Lady Rose

  6. Sorry to hear you're not well - I hope you feel much better soon, dear Emily.
I think, sometimes when we are unwell we too easily get a little down about life, and where we are on our journey.
Personally speaking..I know I still have a long way to go to reach certain goals as a homemaker.
And I dare say - I am a LOT older than you my friend ;-)
Try to not worry too much.
Take 'small steps' as they say !
Your children sound so excited about your birthday!
I hope it's a wonderful day for you and them.
At one stage, I used to allow myself to get terribly down about aging-especially as my closest friends have typically been younger than me.
But now when the subject of age comes up, I tell people I'm in my 'early eternities' and it puts a whole new focus on things.
I still have days when I have to be firm and remind myself of this..but it usually works for me :-)
    Have a blessed day..Trish
